Working within the parameters of design, sculpture and architecture, Bowles and Linares concentrated on designing hand-manufactured interiors, furniture, lighting products and glassware, in a defined palette of materials. Resounding the influences of modernism by way of their cultural mix, along with antiquity and their love for a raw material and knowing how far to take the finish on their architectural or sculptural, organic forms, they create by their own standard and for that stand-alone in their vision. Producing all designs in their London based workshops, their hand-worked lighting, furniture and glassware of variously finished metalwork with horsehair, enamel, ceramic, borosilicate glass, cast concrete and wood is put together with attention to detail and a love for form and beauty rarely seen today. Bowles and Linares are polite, irreverent of fashion. Their lighting and designs wear happily with time and are able to become part of the furniture for a while untill the eye is ready to focus again on their qualities as the mood takes it.
